Arafel was created in 1997 in Tel-Aviv (Israel). After few members' changes line-up was complete:
Oboroten - guitars, vocals;
Leshii - drums;
Lord Asmodeus - bass;
Candlelight - keys, back vocals.
Music of Arafel was a black metal influenced by Russian folk music. The band composed 4 songs and played it on first live performance with Melechesh in august 1998.
In April 1999 Arafel recorded first demo in Delphi studio (Tel-Aviv). It's called “Skazki Starogo Lesaâ€(Tales Of Ancient Forest) and was released at mc format by Latvian label Beverina. In the same year second guitarist Felius joined the band and Arafel turn to five-piece band.
At spring of 1999 Arafel took a part on metal fest in Kfar-Saba (Israel). At the beginning of 2000 Arafel supported Thomas Lindberg on gig with Betrayer in Barbie club (Tel-Aviv, Israel). Right after that gig Oboroten left the band due to army service and Candlelight took all vocal parts. In summer 2000 four-pieces Arafel performed on Jerusalem Metal Fest.
In 2001 band started to look for second guitarist and Mihail join the band. Between 2001-2002 Arafel played 2 gigs at Barbie club (Tel-Aviv) and worked in Boom Studio (Tel-Aviv) with material for their CD.
Finally at September 2002 Arafel got into Selani Studio (Poland) and recorded the first album. This is concept album about Alexander Nevsky - Russian national hero of XIII century. Also Arafel shoot the video that will be featured on new coming CD.
